I think we all know the real reason the government shut down…

A question for the ages.
The earlier on Tuesday you reblog this the funnier it is. (5:28am)
Two men in pointed hats facing one another and playing pattycake
No joke, I also saw two people playing pattycake
I was literally just wondering about this?? Because imo that’s kind of an odd hat choice for him, but it never occurred to me there was just a straight up ANSWER. That’s so funny.
some words you can only spell on autopilot. once you stop to think about it you've already lost the fight

you'll compete against 400 other people to get a job and then the job will be like 'can you work 50 hours no lunch breaks with overtime and also come in on your day off we're soooo understaffed right now' like girl i know you could've split this position between at least two more people. be serious.
There aren't enough fucking hours in the day to get real good at chess, violin, piano, singing, crosswords, film photography, contemporary dance, literary analysis, writing, film criticism, historical analysis, political commentary, tennis, Latin, French, German, Italian, identification of invertebrates, programming, cooking, musical composition, watercolour painting, philosophy, stage acting, fencing, psychoanalysis, and sickoposting online.
I’ve written rants on the word counts of IFs and the expectations some readers have around that before, and after seeing hate against other authors, I feel the need to do so again. So buckle up.
Here’s a fact to put word count in perspective:
Remember that the next time you demand an author write 200k, 300k, 400k+ words in their update or chapter or demo or whatever labor of love they are sharing with you for free.
Writing is a joy, yes. But it is also hard. It’s emotional, it’s time consuming, it’s laborious, and it’s intrinsically a solitary venture. Writing any amount of words should be looked at as an achievement and celebrated.
To be clear, I’ve never experienced word count hate from my followers, and I appreciate you all so much for that. But it saddens me greatly to see other authors having to deal with this.
So to all my fellow authors, I am immensely proud of you. Whether you write 100 words or 10, whether you write daily or weekly. You are gifted and talented and deserving of every praise. Keep writing, and know that we appreciate all that you do. ❤️
